Azure Backup Agent – Server System State Backup now supported

So many time i got asked , why Azure Backup Agent is only able to do a File & Folder Backup…

So…my answer was a bit annoying: „Because….it is so!“

Windows Server System State Backup

Now it is possible to do a System State Backup with Azure Backup Agent on Windows Server 2008 R2 up to 2016

Requirement is the activation of the the Server Backup Feature in Windows Server…

Because the feature is still in preview at the moment you have to enable it separate:

net stop obengine

in HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows Azure Backup\Config\CloudBackupProvider

new DWORD Key “TurnOffSSBFeature” = “2”

net start obengine
