Who knows me knows that i am not a linux guy…

But there was one thing i had to mention on my blog. Yesterday at MSIgnite the System Center Product Team told me that Desired State Configuration (DSC) will be available for LINUX soon…

and this morning, when i was reading my RSS, what is listed there:

PowerShell Desired State Configuration for Linux enables automated configuration management of Linux servers with PowerShell DSC.

Features in this release:

  • Push and Pull configuration mode support
  • Ten “Built-In” resources for configuration of the Linux operating system
  • Partial configuration support with Pull mode

Supported Linux Operating Systems

  • CentOS 5, 6 and 7 (x86/x64)
  • Debian GNU/Linux 6 and 7 (x86/x64)
  • Oracle Linux 5, 6 and 7 (x86/x64)
  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux Server 5, 6 and 7 (x86/x64)
  • SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 10, 11 and 12 (x86/x64)
  • Ubuntu Server 12.04 LTS and 14.04 LTS (x86/x64)
